This website was started by Kerstin and Jens Locher after they lost both of their sons.
Marlon Roland Locher
Marlon died in 2011 after complications during delivery. We were fortunate to be allowed to spend 2 precious days with him. We used little feet on cards and other items because “no feet are too small to leave an imprint on this world”.
Tobias Locher
Tobias was stillborn in 2012 at 35 weeks of pregnancy. His cuddle toy was a monkey.
During our grief we searched for purpose in our lives and were inspired by the many people who have supported us in our difficult journey. The logical choice was to try to do something good and to give back to society by helping others. The question was what to do: many organizations already offer excellent services for grieving parents and our intention is not to go into competition with non-profit organizations for limited funds, donations or attention. However, in our own two tragedies we noticed gaps and opportunities for improvement that we would like to close. We will never be able to lessen the pain grieving parents experience, but we might be able to make a very small contribution by trying to support/help parents during the difficult times they go through.
We would like to use our skills, time and personal experience to contribute in whatever way we can. Having this website allows us to share our thoughts and ideas, to connect with other parents and to form a starting point for discussion about what is most needed and what we can do as parents to address it.
Why a hummingbird as logo?
A friend gave us a card after our second son died which read the following:
“Legends say that hummingsbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation.”
